Karlovy Vary Airport hosted a memorial ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the return of Czech pilots active during World War II in the ranks of the RAF, co-organised with the Association of Friends of Karlovy Vary Airport, under the auspices of the Karlovy Vary Region. The departure hall was imbued with period atmosphere by the JAZZ CAKES band and its swing melodies. Life paths and destinies of pilots (predominantly those from our region) were presented by Dr of Philosophy Daniel Švec in an intriguing way. Visitors could take a closer look at the period artifacts reminiscent of the everyday life of pilots. At the end of our memorial ceremony, the Dark Blue World film was screened. It was our pleasure to hold the event. We were even more pleased that our veterans – pilots, who interconnected most of their aviation careers with Karlovy Vary Airport, were present at the event in large numbers.
